I'm just going to use this opportunity to vent about apple. Sorry in advanced, but Apple is evil.

Does everyone actually know why Microsoft is constantly considered evil? It's because they apparently lock people into software by bundling it. And by bundling it, they give themselves an advantage over competition. As such this makes them anti-competitive.

The thing that the people who mock Microsoft and love apple don't realize is this is EXACTLY what apple does. And apple actually does it at a scale which Microsoft never dreamed of.

The biggest example is the ipod. I own an ipod and I quite like it but I absolutely hate iTunes. It's just a terrible bit of software. Yet apple forces iPod uses to use iTunes, further they force us to only use the iTunes store.

Recently apple has got even more evil on the developers side. For the iPhone 4 they change the developers agreement so programs can only be written in Objective C. Many people had devoted time to get products like MonoTouch which provides a much nicer development environment to work on.

What made this really evil is they made this change a couple of days before Adobe released its new Flash IDE which gave the ability to deploy to the iPhone (and was its big feature). This change made the feature completely useless. Now I'm not a fan of flash at all. But Adobe would have invested a lot of money into that.

I use to not care for apple too much. But I considered things like arguing about Mac Vs Windows to be useless and was just personal choice. But after these recent changes I'm against apple on principle and I'm not buying anything from apple again.

On the iPad specifically, it's a big so what? device for me. Tablets aren't new. Windows tablets have been about for over 10 years, and I would bet a Windows 7 tablet experience is much better than the iPad.

Final thought, It's funny on the anti-competitive front Apple has out-Microsofted Microsoft, while on the phone front with the win7 phone coming out Microsoft has out-appled apple.
